Dagli anni '80, sino al più recente XXI sec., la lotta fra il bene ed il male ha visto contrapporsi sui fumetti della carta stampata, in TV o negli immancabili videogames due distinte fazioni: gli Heroic Warriors, guerrieri eroici pronti a lottare strenuamente per far indietreggiare le tenebre e gli Evil Warrior, il cui unico scopo sarà quello di creare il caos cosmico instillando nel mondo l'odio e la discordia. Leader indiscusso dei guerrieri eroici è He-Man che fra i personaggi di Master of the Universe è considerato in assoluto il più forte e coraggioso: in realtà la sua vera identità è celata. Se nella vita reale di Eternia veste i panni dello scanzonato e superficiale principe Adam, quando le tenebre della zona oscura fanno incursione nell'area di luce di questo pianeta al centro dell'Universo, il principe si trasforma nel protagonista di Master of the Universe, He-Man, invincibile supereroe. Contro di lui il signore delle tenebre, Skeletor, e i suoi scagnozzi: la lotta sarà ad armi pari, vederli combattere sempre un piacere.

Per non scontentare le bambine è stata creata anche una serie, dove protagonista è la giovane Adora, sorella gemella di He-Man, che trasformandosi in She-Ra si adopera a sconfiggere la temibile Orda che ha invaso il pianeta Eternia. Tutte le action figure di Master of the Universe sono prodotte da Mattel, che dal 1983 ad oggi ha continuato ad aggiornare e perfezionare i personaggi arricchendoli sempre di nuovi particolari e rendendoli sempre più manovrabili. Le action figure di Master of the Universe, per i fan MOTU, non sono solo delle perfette riproduzioni di supereroi idonee ad allestire in casa l'eterna lotta tra il bene e il male, ma possono essere ricordi da collezionare, costituendo un pezzo di storia importante per chi li ama. Ovviamente, il principio di ogni collezione o gioco che sia, deve partire da He-Man e Skeletor, le due action figures di Master of the Universe, simbolo delle Grande Guerra.

L'action figure di He-Man è alta 17 cm e possiede 14 articolazioni. Nel tempo la mobilità è stata migliorata moltissimo, permettendo al personaggio di Master of the Universe di apparire sia rilassato che teso e pronto all'attacco. L'unica mancanza è una scarsa agilità alle caviglie, anche se, usando la statuina, ci si accorge che è necessaria a mantenere il muscoloso eroe ben saldo a terra. Biondo, con taglio di capelli anni '80, concentra nel viso la tensione della battaglia: i colori dello scudo riprendono quelli della leggerissima armatura, mentre la cintola e il piccolo perizoma in pelliccia richiamano i calzari. E' un'action figures che continua a voler mantenere il gusto retrò e, nonostante il materiale, plastica termoriscaldata e la verniciatura perfetta, fermare il tempo a 40 anni fa. In dotazione anche tre spade ed un ascia.

L'action figure di Skeletor è più bassa di quella del supereroe: solo 15 cm ma i medesimi punti snodabili; si presenta ben dettagliata nei particolari, soprattutto del volto, con la maschera scheletrica in giallo, che lascia intravedere i bulbi oculari rossi. Il corpo dell'action figure di Skeletor è verniciato in blu coperto da un'armatura nera chiusa in petto da un sigillo rosso. L'action figure del personaggio tenebroso di Master of the Universe è corredata da spada e scettro. La collezione dovrà continuare con BeastMan, Clawful, Hordak, Megator e gli altri personaggi di Master of the Universe per prendere in mano il controllo di una guerra senza fine.
