Batman Begins o Batman: The Beginning in Quebec e New Brunswick
(Batman Begins) è un film americano-britannico diretto
da Christopher Nolan, pubblicato nel 2005.
È
ispirato ai fumetti di Batman: The Man Who Falls, Batman: Year
One e Batman: A long Halloween. È il primo reboot della
serie di film di Batman, 8 anni dopo Batman e Robin di Joel
Schumacher.
Il
film ha due sequel: The Dark Knight: The Black Knight, pubblicato
nel 2008, e The Dark Knight Rises, nel 2012.
Il
giovane Bruce Wayne partecipa impotente all'assassinio dei suoi
genitori. Profondamente traumatizzato, cresce ossessionato dal
desiderio di vendetta e viaggia nei quattro angoli del mondo
per studiare criminologia e arti marziali. La League of Shadows,
una setta guerriera ninja guidata da Ra's al Ghul, gestirà
il suo allenamento fisico. Di ritorno a Gotham City, il giovane
assume la gestione di Wayne Enterprises, che eredita. Operando
dal seminterrato della villa di famiglia con l'aiuto del suo
maggiordomo Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne entra quindi nella
lotta contro il crimine sotto il nome di Batman.
Mentre
gioca nel suo giardino con la sua amica Rachel Dawes, il giovane
Bruce Wayne, figlio di un medico filantropo di Gotham City,
cade in un pozzo dove viene attaccato dai pipistrelli, il che
gli fa sviluppare una fobia rispetto a queste creature. Qualche
tempo dopo, va con i suoi genitori in un teatro dell'opera.
All'uscita, lui ei suoi genitori si trovano faccia a faccia
con un ladro, Joe Chill che minaccia di rubarli. In un momento
di panico, il bandito uccide i genitori e scappa lasciando il
giovane Bruce da solo e indifeso. Bruce viene quindi allevato
da Alfred Pennyworth, il maggiordomo di famiglia. Quattordici
anni dopo, mentre Joe Chill deve essere rilasciato sulla parola
in cambio di una testimonianza contro il capo della malavita
locale Carmine Falcone, Bruce decide di vendicarsi. Tuttavia,
mentre quest'ultimo sta per agire, Chill viene ucciso da una
donna pagata da Falcone.
