Batman:
Arkham Asylum è un videogioco di azione e avventura sviluppato
da Rocksteady Studios e pubblicato da Eidos Interactive, pubblicato
nel 2009 su PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC e nel 2016 su Playstation
4 e Xbox One tramite Batman: Return to compilation Arkham. Presenta
il personaggio di Batman.
Una demo
del gioco può essere scaricata in questo momento su PlayStation
Store e Xbox Live. Alcuni siti Web offrono anche una dimostrazione
della versione per PC.
Poco dopo
la sua uscita, il gioco entra nel Guinness dei primati con la
distinzione di "il gioco di supereroi più votato
di tutti i tempi dalla stampa specializzata" .
Il gioco
è il primo della licenza Batman Arkham, tra cui Batman:
Arkham City uscito nel 2011, Batman: Arkham Origins nel 2013
e Batman: Arkham Knight, uscito il 23 giugno 2015.
Ancora una
volta, Batman ha appena catturato il Joker mentre si prepara
a uccidere il sindaco di Gotham City, e lo riporta nel carcere
di Arkham su un'isola al largo di Gotham. A seguito di un incendio,
un gran numero di detenuti nella prigione di Blackgate sono
stati temporaneamente trasferiti ad Arkham, inclusi molti uomini
del Joker.
Sospettoso,
Batman scopre che la cattura del Joker era un po 'troppo facile
e, di fronte alla sua docilità, preferisce accompagnare
le guardie nella sua cella. Durante la scorta, la sicurezza
del manicomio viene neutralizzata da Harley Quinn, consentendo
al Joker e ai suoi uomini di fuggire e prendere il pieno controllo
dell'isola. Batman capisce rapidamente che gli ultimi eventi,
compreso il fuoco di Blackgate, fanno parte dei piani del Joker
e che i complici all'interno del manicomio lo hanno aiutato
a fuggire.
